Lobat Vala (born in Tehran, 1930) is an Iranian poet,[1][2] and campaigner for the Women Liberation and Equal Rights in Iran.[3] Having been exiled from Iran since 1979, Vala lives in London,[2] and lived in Melbourne between 1980 and 1984. While in Melbourne she obtained an MA in Middle Eastern Studies from Melbourne University and in London worked as journalist and writer in Keyhan weekly newspaper until 2006. Vala has published several poetry books in Persian.[2]
